EN­GI­NEER­ING is a field which pro­vides a range of spe­cial­ist ca­reers in the in­fra­struc­ture, min­ing and con­struc­tion in­dus­tries.

En­gi­neers can spe­cialise in com­puter sys­tems, elec­tri­cal, min­ing, mecha­tron­ics, civil, en­vi­ron­men­tal, wa­ter re­sources man­age­ment, com­mu­ni­ca­tions and ad­vanced man­u­fac­tur­ing, or com­bine stud­ies in two or more fields to broaden their ex­per­tise.

Skills equip work­ers to de­sign sus­tain­able sys­tems, de­sign and con­struct build­ings, bridges and the en­vi­ron­ment around them, con­duct in­dus­trial de­vel­op­ment and wa­ter man­age­ment.

South Aus­tralia’s three uni­ver­si­ties of­fer en­gi­neer­ing stud­ies for un­der­grad­u­ates as well as post­grad­u­ates while TAFE SA pro­vides vo­ca­tional qual­i­fi­ca­tions at ad­vanced di­ploma and di­ploma level, which can be used to­wards en­try into univer­sity pro­grams.

Other reg­is­tered train­ing as­so­ci­a­tions in SA can pro­vide cer­tifi­cate qual­i­fi­ca­tions in en­gi­neer­ing fields.
