Expo to dish out ca­reer op­tions

THE Ter­tiary Stud­ies and Ca­reers Expo Ade­laide presents a per­fect op­por­tu­nity for any­one think­ing of un­der­tak­ing fur­ther ed­u­ca­tion and train­ing or wish­ing to gain ac­cess to a wide range of ca­reer op­tions.

All the an­swers to im­por­tant ques­tions can be found in the one lo­ca­tion at the Ade­laide Con­ven­tion Cen­tre over two days, start­ing to­mor­row.

With about 200 rep­re­sen­ta­tives on site from a di­verse group of ex­hibitors, in­clud­ing all South Aus­tralian uni­ver­si­ties and many in­ter­state and over­seas uni­ver­si­ties, pri­vate ed­u­ca­tion col­leges, TAFE in­sti­tutes, grad­u­ate em­ploy­ment ad­vis­ers, de­fence re­cruiters, vo­ca­tional sup­port­ers, gov­ern­ment agen­cies and over­seas work pro­grams, TSCEA rep­re­sents the most in­clu­sive ca­reers, ed­u­ca­tion and train­ing expo of its kind in the state.

At TSCEA, vis­i­tors will find im­por­tant in­for­ma­tion for school stu­dents and adult ap­pli­cants on new and ex­cit­ing cour­ses and all study op­tions avail­able in 2011 and be­yond.

There will be ex­perts pro­vid­ing ad­vice on study pro­gram op­tions and ap­pren­tice­ship pro­ce­dures to grad­u­ate out­comes and de­tails on the range of fi­nan­cial sup­port that is avail­able to in­di­vid­u­als.

This year, for the first time, prac­ti­tion­ers from the Ca­reer De­vel­op­ment As­so­ci­a­tion of Aus­tralia will be avail­able dur­ing the expo for short con­sul­ta­tions about pos­si­ble path­ways and ca­reer tran­si­tions.

A num­ber of South Aus­tralian gov­ern­ment de­part­ments will be on site to pro­vide de­tails on their pro­grams and ad­vise on em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties within spe­cific in­dus­try sec­tors and pro­fes­sional ar­eas.

With skill short­ages in key in­dus­try ar­eas, rep­re­sen­ta­tives at TSCEA will also be able to pro­vide ad­vice on how to gain skills and qual­i­fi­ca­tions for these in­dus­tries.

New com­pe­ti­tions and at­trac­tive prizes pro­vide even more rea­son to at­tend this ex­cit­ing event.

Vis­i­tors can win a $1000 lap­top or ap­ply for a $2000 bur­sary grant to help off­set the costs of ter­tiary study.

Competition and bur­sary ap­pli­ca­tion forms can be down­loaded from the web­site. The spon­sors of the event in­clude Univer­sity of Ade­laide, Univer­sity of South Aus­tralia, Flin­ders Univer­sity, TAFE SA and ACPET.

About 10,000 vis­i­tors are ex­pected to at­tend and the ex­ten­sive seminar pro­gram will be keenly pa­tro­n­ised by those wish­ing to hear di­rectly from a num­ber of spe­cial­ist pre­sen­ters about the lat­est in­for­ma­tion on ter­tiary stud­ies, fur­ther train­ing and em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties. For those who are se­ri­ous about their fu­ture, TSCEA is the one expo they can­not af­ford to miss.

The Ter­tiary Stud­ies and Ca­reers Expo Ade­laide is held on Sun­day, June 19, be­tween 10am and 4pm, and Mon­day, June 20, be­tween 9.30am and 1.30pm, at the Ade­laide Con­ven­tion Cen­tre. Ad­mis­sion is free.
