Health and safety at work fund­ing push

IM­PROV­ING work health and safety for young and new work­ers will be part of the fo­cus of new re­search funded by SafeWork SA.

In­dus­trial Re­la­tions Min­is­ter Rus­sell Wort­ley says $412,000 will be used to grant fund­ing in re­search pri­or­ity ar­eas, which also in­clude the un­cov­er­ing of sys­temic fac­tors be­hind work­place in­jury, im­prov­ing safety in small busi­nesses, safety in aged care and in-home ser­vices, and in the min­ing and quar­ry­ing in­dus­tries.

‘‘High-qual­ity re­search is crit­i­cal to im­prov­ing and ex­pand­ing the base of work health and safety knowl­edge in South Aus­tralia,’’ Mr Wort­ley says.
