PARLOUR H a i r Academy is celebrating recent success at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards in Brisbane.

Coming home with the 2011 South Australian Hairdresser of the Year award, Jason Fassbender is one of Parlour’s success stories.

He started his hairdressing career with Parlour as an apprentice and won Australian apprentice of the year twice and the prestigious Australian New Creative force award in 2009.

He has demonstrated hair styling on stage at London’s largest hairdressing event Salon International and has now been crowned South Australia’s best hairdresser.

One of the creative directors, Robert Bava, says Jason is testament to the training provided by Parlour hair.

‘‘We put so much emphasis on the early stages of training and perfecting the fundamentals with our younger students and apprentices, this is the foundation for their future careers; we take it very seriously,’’ he says.

‘‘It makes us so proud to see our younger colleagues succeed like this.’’

When choosing

training, students need to consider if the organisation is in touch with the current industry standards and if they understand what employers are looking for in new recruits.

Parlour has three successful salons and its directors still work on the floor tending to clients.

The salon believs it is invaluable when passing on the knowledge of what it is like to work in a salon.

Hairdressing is an industry which moves incredibly fast and it is easy to lose touch once removed from the salon.

This is where Parlour sets itself apart, as all educators at the academy work in the salons, have extensive experience with fashion week, photographic and celebrity clients and the knowledge they can share is unsurpassed.
