Out of the confusion
WHAT can sometimes seem to be a confusing world of carbon credits and emission efficiencies is creating jobs for consultants to help businesses and individuals achieve greater environmental sustainability.
Pangolin Associates Pty Ltd was born in Adelaide in mid-2010 to advise clients on how to report on and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conduct energy audits, trade and sell carbon credits and mitigate a price on carbon.
The firm began with five full-time staff and had more than $750,000 in revenue in its first 10 months of trading.
Joint managing director Matthew Curnow (pictured with David Ross, right) says it has a growing network of staff and clients in SA and interstate and is looking for more auditors.
Workers such as semi-retired people or stay-at-home mums who want a day or two a week of work are high on its recruiting list.
‘‘ We’re doing a lot of energy auditing at the moment, that’s our biggest growth area,’’ Curnow says.
