En­rolled nurses care for pa­tients in hos­pi­tals, aged care and other health-care fa­cil­i­ties, in­clud­ing com­mu­nity health cen­tres. They work un­der the su­per­vi­sion of a reg­is­tered nurse or mid­wife in pro­vid­ing ba­sic nurs­ing re­quire­ments, such as bathing and feed­ing, ad­min­is­ter­ing med­i­ca­tions, mon­i­tor­ing pa­tients and as­sess­ing health care plans. They also ob­serve, mea­sure and record sta­tis­tics such as tem­per­a­ture, pulse, blood pres­sure and sugar lev­els and re­port any changes to doc­tors. They are clas­si­fied as a sec­ond level nurse af­ter nurse as­sis­tant. Many ed­u­cate pa­tients and the com­mu­nity in health and life­style main­te­nance and preven­tion. En­rolled nurses can un­der­take fur­ther train­ing, whether it is a com­pe­tency at­tain­ment, certificate or ter­tiary de­gree qual­i­fi­ca­tion, to per­form more com­plex tasks at any time dur­ing their ca­reer.
