Enrolled nurses care for patients in hospitals, aged care and other health-care facilities, including community health centres. They work under the supervision of a registered nurse or midwife in providing basic nursing requirements, such as bathing and feeding, administering medications, monitoring patients and assessing health care plans. They also observe, measure and record statistics such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure and sugar levels and report any changes to doctors. They are classified as a second level nurse after nurse assistant. Many educate patients and the community in health and lifestyle maintenance and prevention. Enrolled nurses can undertake further training, whether it is a competency attainment, certificate or tertiary degree qualification, to perform more complex tasks at any time during their career.
