Bosses cautious over taking on new recruits
ONE in five employers anticipate hiring new staff in the next three months but about one in 10 bosses intend to decrease their workforce, the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey reveals.
In South Australia, it means an overall hiring outlook of 8 per cent, a slight decrease of 1 per cent on the last quarter.
ManpowerGroup managing director Lincoln Crawley says the high exchange rate, low consumer sentiment and uncertainty in Europe are making employers nervous and holding back employment in many sectors.
‘‘ Australia’s business projections are strong. But employers are understandably cautious in their hiring,’’ he says.
