Bonuses offer mixed rewards
BONUSES have little effect on the long-term performance of an organisation, research by the HPO Center reveals.
It finds if a company does not have a reward program, its employees often are not motivated to improve their performance. But if rewards are offered, staff come to expect it and consider it normal.
It advises that it is best for businesses to have some form of reward program but not to spend a lot of time designing an elaborate system.
