Hospitality applicants need further study
ONE in 10 hospitality workers who apply for a job reach the second round of the application process, an industry specialist says.
InterContinental Hotels Group talent resourcing manager Andrew Morley says the sector has a skills drought because only 10 per cent of applicants have the goods to make it past the first stage.
‘‘ Applicants fail to deliver on two fronts: either they do not have the required qualifications to be selected for stage two of the interview process or there is a lack of attention to detail on their resume,’’ he says.
Morley says having a professional social media profile also is important.
