Who’s been seen where and the big-name properties up for grabs
AustraliaLiveTV.com chief executive John Begley and his wife Erica have made the sea change. The couple recently relocated to a penthouse at Glenelg and are now selling their Flagstaff Hill home after nearly 10 years. AustraliaLiveTV.com is the company and website behind online sports talk show
with Ken Cunningham and Phil Smyth. Mr and Mrs Begley also own funky Westfield Marion restaurant and bar S-Bar. Brock Harcourts agent Alex Ouwens is selling the Begleys’ Flagstaff Hill home at Craigburn Estate and says it is a gem. ‘‘This has to be one of the finest family homes in Craigburn Estate,’’ he says. ‘‘It’s modern with a games room, pool, spa . . . it has the works really.’’ Mr Ouwens says the pool at the home is a beauty. ‘‘It’s an elevated pool and it feels like you are swimming among the tree tops,’’ he says. John Begley says that an increasingly busy lifestyle and the sea air lured him to Glenelg. ‘‘Now that AustraliaLiveTV is going national we need a lock and leave base,’’ he says. ‘‘Plus I’m an old-timer, so it is time for this mullet to flow in the breezes of the sea-change.’’ A VIP showing will be held at the Flagstaff Hill home today before the property is released next week.
A vacant block of land at Verdun is generating some buzz in the Adelaide Hills because of its history. Status Realty’s Margaret Owen, who is selling the 1.6 ha block on the Onkaparinga Valley Rd, says the property originally was owned by Marjory Beaumont. ‘‘She was a well-known Adelaide Hills identity who lived there until her death,’’ she says. ‘‘In the summer she held parties in the rather lovely garden with winter creek and well.’’ Ms Owen says that numerous people have told her of the land’s history. it appears not quite as many are as familiar with Miss Beaumont’s first name. ‘‘Everyone just knew her as Miss Beaumont,’’ she says. The current owner bought the property from Miss Beaumont’s estate. There is a small cottage remaining on the land in need of improvement or demolition. The land is advertised $750,000-$795,000.
