Who’s been seen where and the big-name properties up for grabs
COULD a property purchase in her former stomping ground be on the radar for Prime Minister Julia Gillard?
While hitting the hustings on her quick visit to Adelaide on Wednesday in the lead-up to the federal election, Ms Gillard apparently was stopped in her tracks when she walked past the Smallacombe Real Estate office at Mitcham.
Agent William Smallacombe says Ms Gillard was on the media trail from the Mitcham Square shopping centre to the Sunset Lodge aged care facility at Kingswood when something caught her attention.
‘ ‘ While walking past t he office she took particular notice of a beautiful property in Mitcham displayed in the window card,’’ he says.
Mr Smallacombe says the property that caught the PM’s eye was a stately 10-room residence on Playford Rd at Mitcham that features a sparkling backyard pool.
‘‘Perhaps an investment property is on the cards,’’ he says.
Ms Gillard was raised in the Mitcham area and attended Unley High School.
AUSTRALIAN cricketer Dan Christian is keeping his finger on the local property market although he is currently tied up with commitments playing in the English county competition.
Christian, who plies his trade with the SA Redbacks in the domestic competition, romped on to the international cricket scene earlier this year with a series of strong Twenty20 performances at the state level.
Brock Harcourts agent Gareth Evans informs Property Spy that Christian is showing interest in a Norwood townhouse via his parents.
‘‘Obviously he’s tied up playing cricket in England so he’s had his parents look through the property,’’ he says.
Christian signed with the Hampshire Royals in June in the English Twenty20 competition.
AN investment chance for the community-conscious has come on to the market.
