Vineyard views for all seasons
The grape-heavy outlook is only part of the appeal, writes Katrina Stokes.
THE changing shades, shapes and seasons of nearby Penfolds vineyard has provided the owners of a Rosslyn Park home with more than 25 years of memories. ‘‘It’s like being near the sea. The view is always changing,’’ one of the vendors says. ‘‘We just had the grape pickers in.’’
Built in 1985 by Alan Shepard Homes, the three-bedroom property was designed in conjunction with the present owners.
‘‘I couldn’t live without northern windows and privacy was a big factor, too,’’ the vendor says.
Set on 586sq m, the home has views from nearly every room.
It also has two separate living spaces: a formal lounge as well as a family and dining area.
The kitchen, which is set in the hub of the home, features blackwood cabinets and stainless steel appliances.
The vendors say they spend much of their time sitting under the large, undercover veranda, which is at the rear of the home, and offers views of the vineyards and surrounding landscaped gardens.
‘‘I have spent hours of my time on the back of the veranda,’’ the vendor says.
‘‘We get a lot of birds here, from parrots to cockatoos and have also seen foxes and a koala or two.’’
The low-maintenance house is located in a quiet, country-like environment but lies just minutes’ drive from Norwood Parade and Magill Rd.
‘‘We will definitely miss the openness, privacy and the vineyards,’’ the vendor says.
