ATHIRTY-YEAR dream to buy a sprawling coastal property became a reality for the owner who used to deliver food there as a young man. ‘‘Back in the early 1970s, I delivered some food here and I said to myself ‘I’ve got to buy this one day’,’’ one of the vendors says. ‘‘About 30 years later my wife and I bought it.’’

Offering views of Adelaide’s metropolitan coastline and beyond, the property lies on an area of nearly 10,000 sq m.

The vendors – who are selling the home because they are downsizing – say they have always lived near or on the beach.

‘‘I love the beach. I was born in Italy in a beachside town so it reminds me so much of home,’’ the vendor says.

The married couple have raised their four children – who say they will also miss the home – in the family-sized property.

‘‘They’ve all moved out but the youngest one is 28 and she still likes to come and sleep here occasionally,’’ the vendor says.

Featuring six bedrooms and five bathrooms, the home is well-suited to a large family.

Outside, the property has a swimming pool, tennis court and paved entertaining areas boasting views to the sea below. Address: 99 Ocean Boulevard. Type: A 12-room property overlooking the coast, hills and city. The property features a pool and pool house and is set on almost 10,000sq m. Agent: Brock Harcourts Adelaide, ph 8203 1200, Catherine Crease 0408 822 188. Open: By appointment. Price: $5 million.

‘‘You can see the sea from almost every one of the rooms in the house ... we have 360-degree views,’’ the vendor says.

The property also has a self-contained studio apartment, which could be utilised by an older child or as a children’s retreat.

The vendors say they spend most of their time in the living, kitchen and dining areas.

‘‘My wife loves the kitchen,’’ the vendor says. ‘‘She spends about three or four hours in there every day.’’

While they are selling, the vendors won’t be moving too far from Seacliff Park.

Their love of the suburb means it is top of the list when they buy again.
