Buses are avail­able on Mil­i­tary Rd which travel on Ade­laide Metro route J1, which gives ac­cess to the city and Glenelg.

Schools

There are a cou­ple of schools in the area, in­clud­ing West Beach Pri­mary School, which is on Woodhead St, and Hen­ley High School, which is on Cud­more Tce. For preschool chil­dren, West Beach Kinder­garten is on Win­ston Cres­cent.

Typ­i­cal street fea­tures

The streets of West Beach are char­ac­terised by medium den­sity homes in a va­ri­ety of styles, and many have a sea view. There are many Nor­folk Is­land Pines, and a num­ber of re­serves in the area.

Zon­ing and plan­ning

Seav­iew Rd, West Beach, is lo­cated in the Res­i­den­tial zone 17 — Western Edge of the City of Charles Sturt de­vel­op­ment plan. This zone re­stricts site ar­eas to at least 350sq m for detached dwellings and 300sq m for semi-detached dwellings. Any homes that have a frontage to Seav­iew Rd must be set­back by at least 5m. Any build­ing work (ex­cept for fences) on properties that have a frontage to a coastal re­serve or zone must be set back at least 8m.

Lo­cal at­trac­tions

There are a large num­ber of re­serves in West Beach, in­clud­ing Bar­ratt Re­serve and the West Beach Recre­ation Re­serve. Ade­laide Shores Golf Park and Glenelg Golf Course are to the south of the prop­erty. For shop­ping op­tions, Har­bour Town is in the area ad­ja­cent the air­port, and Glenelg’s Jetty Rd is nearby.

Fu­ture de­vel­op­ment

Fu­ture de­vel­op­ment of homes that ex­ceed two storeys in height ‘‘are gen­er­ally in­ap­pro­pri­ate’’ but the de­vel­op­ment plan says they may be ac­cepted in some cir­cum­stances.
