Versatile plan to suit family
This two-storey home has functional layout for family living, writes Tom Dougherty.
AHOME has a functional layout perfect for someone who still has the kids living at home — or who has kids that like returning regularly to visit, vendor Angus Middleton says. ‘‘It has a versatile floorplan upstairs and downstairs and I liked the fact that it has a five-car garage with a pit, which doubles up as a cellar,’’ he says.
‘‘It has worked out extremely well for us, we have sons in their 20s and they have moved interstate now so we are downsizing, it’s a 12-room house and we are changing to something smaller.’’
The home has five bedrooms, with the master at the front on the ground floor, with a dressing room and an ensuite with a spa bath attached.
There is one more bedroom downstairs with a built-in robe, a walk-in robe and an ensuite, and the other three bedrooms are upstairs.
One of the upstairs bedrooms has an ensuite with a shower, and another has a walk-in robe.
The front of the home on the ground floor is taken up by a formal loungeroom with bi-fold doors through to a dining room and a family room.
The kitchen is adjacent the family room, and it has a servery, a walk-in pantry, stainless steel appliances, white cupboards and a white-tiled floor.
‘‘The kitchen is huge, but even better is the walk-in pantry,’’ he says.
‘‘There is a huge area in the atrium where we have had over 20 for lunch, so its good for entertaining.’’
In the middle of the home is another dining room with an atrium-style roof and a door out to the veranda at the back, and there is a home theatre as well.
The home also has a study and a laundry with external access. At the back of the home is a covered entertaining area with ceiling fans and a lawn with a water feature.
‘‘It would suit two different people, one is the retiree who has children and grandchildren that keep on boomeranging, and the other is the large family, at the end of the day it is five bedrooms and four bathrooms,’’ Mr Middleton says.
