UNDER THE HAMMER
Life’s a beach at Glenelg South, writes Tom Dougherty.
AGLENELG SOUTH home close to the beach was an instant attraction for vendor Jill Keepes almost 20 years ago and it offered the perfect lifestyle.
‘‘We were down from Sydney and we were walking along the foreshore and we saw the open house,’’ she says.
‘‘We were loving the beach and the ease of access to everything.
‘‘It is just a beautiful building, we put an extension on the back but it was done in the same style as the rest of the house so there is a sense of continuity throughout.’’
The single-storey stone-fronted home has three bedrooms, all with carpet.
The master is located close to the middle of the home and it has a built-in wardrobe and an ensuite with a shower.
At the front of the home is a dining room with a fireplace and adjacent to it is a loungeroom with a gas heater.
Both the dining and lounge have polished timber floors and french doors that open out to the porch and pergola at the front of the house.
At the back of the property is an openplan kitchen, family and meals area, with a slate-tiled floor and french doors that open out to a pergola in the backyard.
The kitchen has wooden cupboards, a breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances and a pantry.
‘‘The kitchen is good, the whole family cooks so it has to be good, it has plenty of storage, good bench space and easy access to what you need,’’ she says.
The home also has a bathroom with a bath and a shower and a laundry with external access.
The backyard features a paved area, native plants and a garage/workshop.
‘‘It has access to the beach, easy access to Jetty Rd and shopping, you can swim, you can walk, and there are good schools,’’ Ms Keepes says. ‘‘It is a very flexible property and in a wonderful location.’’
