Discover a hidden gem
This Broadview home was renovated with some entertaining thought, writes Tom Dougherty.
Ahouse in the ‘‘hidden gem’’ suburb of Broadview was in original condition and vendor Michelle Hounslow renovated it to create a peaceful family home.
‘‘Initially we liked the area, as well as the opportunity to put our stamp on the place and make it a home,’’ she says.
‘‘It was in almost original condition because it had lots of doorways and little rooms, so we virtually gutted the place and started again.’’
The property has three carpeted bedrooms, which are all at one end of the home.
Two of them feature built-in robes and the master looks on to the front yard and has a split-system airconditioning unit.
At the front of the home is a loungeroom, which has a heater.
Along the far side of the home from the bedrooms is a combined kitchen and meals area.
The kitchen features a breakfast bar, a pantry, stainless steel appliances, a 900mm-wide oven, and a dishwasher.
‘‘The kitchen is a great kitchen to work in, it has plenty of room and the breakfast bar is a nice spot to have a drink or a casual meal,’’ Ms Hounslow says.
Along the back of the home is a family and dining room, which has french doors that open out to the backyard.
In the middle of the home is a bathroom, which has a bath and a shower, and there is a laundry adjacent.
In the backyard is a covered entertaining area that looks on to a lawn area, which has a water feature.
‘‘It is brilliant for entertaining because there is plenty of room in the backyard,’’ she says.
‘‘You have a great area undercover for entertaining and dining, it’s fantastic for small or large groups.
‘‘It would be good for a family because there is so much room to move.’’
