Light-filled in friendly hood
Light floods this home, writes Tom Dougherty.
MODERN, open-plan living and natural light flooding in northfacing windows attracted vendor Sue Anderson to a St Georges home 10 years ago. ‘‘I liked the spacious, flow-through feeling of the house, and all the north-facing double doors,’’ she says.
‘‘It has a north-facing back garden as well, and a beautiful downstairs master bedroom with windows to the east and the north.’’
The property has three bedrooms, with the master at the back. It has a built-in robe and an ensuite with a shower and a double vanity.
The other two bedrooms are on the top floor and one features a built-in robe and french doors opening to a balcony.
They are serviced by a bathroom, which has a shower. Also on the top floor is a living area. ‘‘That’s a big living room up there, it is perfect if you have to have teenagers in the house,’’ she says.
At the front of the home downstairs there is a loungeroom, which has a fireplace and french doors opening to a paved area at the side.
In the middle of the property is an openplan kitchen, family and living area with polished timber floors. The kitchen features an island bench with a breakfast bar, white cupboards, stone benches, dishwasher and European appliances.
‘‘The kitchen is great, it has a huge bench that is very wide, and perfect when you have people for dinner because you are right there,’’ Ms Anderson says.
One set of french doors in the living room open to the side courtyard, and another set opens out to a paved area at the back, which looks over a lawn and a low-maintenance garden.
There is also a downstairs powder room, and a laundry with external access.
At the front of the home is a garage which has an automatic door and internal access.
‘‘It is very quiet, with the master at the back you do not hear a sound, ever,’’ she says.
‘‘It’s a fantastic place, the neighbours are wonderful, it’s an incredibly friendly place.’’
