The Advertiser - SA Weekend - - UP FRONT -

The year was 1940, and I believe it was the last Adelaide Show until after WWII. My brother and I went by tram without our parents.

We were given six shillings each. I remember sample bags with little packets of Corn Flakes, tiny jars of Vegemite, white chocolate frogs, Lifesavers and Phantom comics.

When his money ran out, my young brother found a way to circumvent the ticket office of a sideshow. I longed for a dolly on a stick, but alas, my money was almost gone. There were just enough pennies for a tram ride home. Linda Sutton Kadina
