TRACKS BACK IN TIME
They’re dusty, bumpy, and remote but SA’s Great Tracks lead to a desert world of natural wonders, Aboriginal heritage, and European discovery
The Track starts just north of Marree. Roads are unsealed. Normal cars do drive the Track, but high clearance or 4WD vehicles are advisable if straying far off the main Track, with 4WD necessary north of Oodnadatta. There is accommodation at William Creek, Oodnadatta and Mt Dare, and camping at Coward Springs, William Creek, Oodnadatta,
Hamilton Station, Mt Dare and Dalhousie Springs, with some facilities. Only designated
campsites can be used in National Parks.
