What’s Planet B New England Pale Ale $26/6-pack (330ml cans) Behind the Sparkke Change Beverage Co you’ll find nine South Aussie women on a mission to have you thinking while you are drinking. It’s a fruity, tropical, tangy brew packed full of aromatic hops — less bitter and more approachable than its other West Coast alternatives. This New England IPA is not only delicious but it’ll have you starting a conversation. Pale Ale $27/6-pack (355ml cans) The boys at Pirate Life Brewing are going from strength to strength, and with a planned expansion to a second location, the pirates will certainly feel at home in the Port. Their flagship Pale is an exemplary interpretation of an American Pale Ale; expect pine, citrus and earthy hops matched perfectly with a solid, malty backbone. You’ll easily smash this one all summer long. The Naked Objector West Coast IPA $24/4-pack (330ml cans) Tucked away in the backstreets of Stepney, Ryan and Fil at Little Bang Brewing Co deliver this huge IPA as their take on the classic West Coast IPA. And it’s ballsy, to say the least. Head on in to the brewery on a sunny Sunday afternoon, chill among the fermenters and order something from a local food truck out the front. Hippy Berliner / Sour Hoppy Ale $23/4-pack (330ml cans) Across the ditch for this one we go. 8 Wired have Americanised this Berliner Weisse adding plenty of New Zealand and American hops to create a clean, zesty, refreshing brew full of passionfruit and citrus flavour. Don’t overlook this sour, it’s a perfect refreshing summer beer, conveniently lighter in alcohol. Like Russell Crowe you’ll happily claim this 8 Wired beer as one of our own. Indian Red Ale $20/4-pack (330ml cans) If you’re in McLaren Vale and need a break from your wines, add a hop stop to your tour and drop in to Goodieson for a frothy. This Indian Red Ale, with its vibrant copper colour, offers a fresh aroma then an initial hoppy bitterness and toffee like malty richness for balance. Who needs dessert when you can finish the day with one of these? SAWEEKEND
