Down Under in the Hills

The Advertiser - - CONFIDENTIAL -

OUR superstars of the small screen were out in force for the Australian Emmy Nominees Sunset Reception in Beverly Hills, California, in the lead up to today’s 69th Annual Emmy awards. That said, Nicole Kidman, the favourite to win the Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy for her role in Big Little Lies, was nowhere to be seen. But the Foxtel drama, which is up for 16 awards, was well represented. Adelaide-born executive co-producer Bruna Papandrea and Liane Moriarty, the author of the book on which the miniseries is based, were both present. “I was nervous, but in a way I knew I was handing it over to such talented people,” Liane says.

Among the guests was Adelaide costume designer Perry Meek, who has already won an Emmy for his work on an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Storm Boy’s Geoffrey Rush, who is up for Outstanding Lead Actor for his portrayal of Albert Einstein in Genius and Gracie Otto were also there, along with Ruby Rose and her leading lady Jessica Origliasso. They appeared very well suited in matchy-matchy black and white outfits. SEE: THE 69TH ANNUAL EMMY AWARDS 9.30AM & 8PM, FOX8
