Smokers missing treatment

The Advertiser - - NEWS -

A NEW study has raised concern that some smokers are slipping through the net when it comes to being diagnosed with a common form of lung disease.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which includes chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic asthma, is the fifth leading cause of death in Australia.

Published today in the Medical Journal of Australia, the Monash University-led study said COPD was both misdiagnosed and missed across 41 GP clinics.
