Band on track for big night
AUSSIE charttoppers Sheppard will help rev up the crowd at this year’s Adelaide 500, joining international superstar Robbie Williams for the finalnight after-race concert.
Best known for their smash hit Geronimo, Sheppard complete the star-studded line-up for the March 1-4 motorsport event, which also features Cold Chisel, Live, Birds of Tokyo, Kasey Chambers and Bad//Dreems.
Formed in 2009, the indie pop six-piece (right) includes siblings George, Emma and Amy Sheppard, and Michael Butler, Jay Bovino and Dean Gordon, who’ll hit the stage on the Sunday night, March 4.
“We are really looking forward to being a part of the Adelaide 500 concert line-up. It will be a huge show for us, hitting the stage before Robbie Williams (far right), but we can’t wait to light up the stage for fans celebrating 20 years of the event,” says lead singer George.
“2017 was a massive year for us locally and internationally, and it will be great to get back to Adelaide to play for all the fans there.”
In a big 12 months for Sheppard, their latest track, Coming Home, hit No.4 on the Aussie radio charts, and they also toured the US, playing a special gig for entertainment guru Perez Hilton in LA.
Other new additions to the post-race entertainment include six local acts – Hana & Jessi-Lee, Donnarumma, Kitchen Witch, Young Offenders, Neon Tetra and Ollie English – as part of the Bands on Track initiative.
Three nights of the race event will feature Bands on Track artists opening for the headliners, thanks to a collaboration between Music SA and Adelaide 500 which showcases up-and-coming local musicians. FOR MORE INFORMATION: WWW.ADELAIDE500.COM.AU
