Bachelor brings his love home

The Advertiser - - CONFIDENTIAL -

THE Bachelor star Matty “J” Johnson brought his reality show love Laura Byrne to his hometown for the first time yesterday for the People’s Choice Undies Run.

The photogenic couple were swamped by eager fans at the annual charity event in the East End, which raises awareness and funds for bowel cancer research.

“It’s our first trip together in Adelaide, which is nice... taking her to my home state, where I was’s great to be here,” says Port Augusta-born Matty. The ladies of Adelaide were kept in suspense as hunky Matty initially decided to keep his shirt on.

“I didn’t know if it’d be a little too self-indulgent to take the singlet off,” he explains. “But I will be taking it off during the race; minimal clothing for maximum speed.”

Laura adds with a laugh: “I was surprised he wanted to run in a shirt, people won’t recognise him.”

It’s set to be busy year for Matty, who’ll be filling in for The Living Room co-host Dr Chris Brown when the TV vet is away for Ten’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

“It’s massive shoes to fill,” he says.
