Teacher has compo win over pupil kill threats

A PRI­MARY school­teacher has been awarded work­ers com­pen­sa­tion af­ter it ruled her se­vere psy­chosis was caused by chaos in the class­room and a kill threat against her by one of her stu­dents.

The Em­ploy­ment Tri­bunal heard that a num­ber of stu­dents with “com­plex­i­ties” in her class in­creased in 2017, in­clud­ing more stu­dents with be­hav­iour is­sues, autism dis­or­ders as well as a his­tory of sex­ual or phys­i­cal abuse.

Tri­bunal deputy pres­i­dent Mark Cal­ligeros said it was not sur­pris­ing the teacher’s men­tal-health de­clined so sharply.
