Swan Valley lap up carnival win

SWAN Valley Anglican Community School dominated the F division at the Associated and Catholic Colleges Swimming Carnival at HBF Stadium last week.

The school walked away with 842 points, beating Aranmore by 11 points.

The team trained for weeks in anticipation for the event and showed determination.

Swan Valley Anglican sports coordinator Darryn Longbottom said the goal was to finish in the top two.

“As a team Aranmore College was our biggest competitor,” he said. “It was a close battle throughout the day with only a handful of points separating the top three schools right from the first event.

“We waited with bated breath for the results as we were only 20 points ahead before the relays. Our team was fantastic on the day and winning the girls aggregate and junior boys shield was fantastic. However when the winning school was announced our team was ecstatic.”

The team will now move into the E division for the 2018 carnival.

Mr Longbottom said the whole school was proud of what the students had achieved.

“We have waited five year to hold up the shield again, but it was well worth the wait,” he said.
