BLOOD DONORS NEEDED:
THE Australian Red Cross Blood Service is calling on Midland people to donate blood this Easter, with an additional 70 donors needed to donate to ensure adequate supplies.
Spokeswoman Jessica Willet said although the demand for blood was ongoing, donors were in short supply before, during and after the Easter break.
“Around Easter, many regular blood donors are away, which means blood supplies can dip if we don’t have enough good eggs to fill the gap,” she said.
“One blood product, platelets, only lasts for five days, not much longer than a hot cross bun, so we need a constant supply.
“In particular, more donors are needed at Midland on Easter Sunday, when only six people are booked in to donate.”
