New mar­ket gets panel’s go-ahead

PLANS for a seven-day mar­ket­place in the Swan Val­ley will go ahead af­ter the East Metro Joint De­vel­op­ment Assess­ment Panel ap­proved the plans ear­lier this month.

The panel gave ap­proval for the fa­cil­ity on Len­nard Street in Herne Hill, which will in­clude an art gallery, artist stu­dio, grow­ers’ mar­ket, con­fer­ence fa­cil­ity, grape pro­cess­ing fa­cil­ity, win­ery and cel­lar door sales.

The mar­ket, which is ex­pected to be named Swan Set­tlers Mar­ket, will re­place the Mid­land Mil­i­tary Mar­kets, which burnt down 10 years ago. The mar­ket is due to be opened by Septem­ber.

The panel’s ap­proval is valid for two years from the date of ap­proval.
