COUPLE FALL FOR AVON’S CALL

The Advocate (Perth) - - RESIDENTIAL -

A LOVE of the outdoors, hiking and sunsets brought Mathew and Nina Hughes to Avon Ridge – and now they are celebrating being the 100th purchaser at the Brigadoon estate.

Having lived in Australia for five years, the UK-born couple found their perfect 1.6ha lot in the Peet community amid the Darling Ranges, 37km from the Perth CBD and close to the Swan and Avon valleys.

They are planning an elevated home with a valley view.

“We chose Avon Ridge because the larger lot sizes were appealing, the connection to nature is just beautiful and there’s space to have your own peace of mind out there,” Mr Hughes said.

“It’s just amazing that there can be so many people who will be part of the community but it still feels spacious and you don’t have your neighbours right on your doorstep.”

Importantly, their miniature schnauzer Gus has also given the purchase his tick of approval.

“Gus loves it. We took him to the block a couple of weeks ago and he was running around like crazy,” Mr Hughes said.

“He has small legs so a block that size with all of the space will wear him out no worries.

“We’re really looking forward to the lifestyle we’ll all be able to enjoy living at Avon Ridge, having Bells Rapids around the corner, going for walks in John Forrest National Park and we’re on the doorstep of the Swan Valley.

“I’m excited about being able to cook outdoors while watching the sun set surrounded by nature.

“There’s a hollow stump on our lot and I’m thinking about turning it into a cooking pit.”

There are also barbecues in the estate’s park, as well as paths and grassed and shaded picnic areas.

Nearby amenities include established schools, retail centres, restaurants and sporting and medical facilities.

For a limited time, buyers can save more than $50,000 on select lots ranging from 15,140sq m to 22,320sq m with frontages from 105.97m to 133.63m and sweeping views.
