FORMER East Perth colts coach Adam Pickering will move into senior WAFL coaching ranks for the first time after signing with Swan Districts for two years.

Pickering, who coached the Royals for the past two seasons, played 11 games for Carlton and 111 at East Perth.

The 36-year-old also served as reserves and assistant league coach at Perth in 2012 and 2013, and an assistant coach for the WAFL state team in 2013.

Pickering will take over from outgoing Swans coach Greg Harding, who resigned this season after seven seasons at the helm.

He said he could not wait to get started and build on Harding’s efforts over the past few seasons.

“I would like to thank the Swan Districts Football Club for the vote of confidence and am extremely honoured and humbled to be given the position of senior coach for the 2018 and 2019 seasons,” he said.

Swans chief executive Jeff Dennis said Pickering was a very “personable character” and strong leader.

“Adam personifies the club’s values of inclusive, empower, equality, integrity and community,” he said.
