Community safety grants

The Advocate (Perth) - - NEWS -

PEARCE MHR Christian Porter has announced that applications for round two of the Safer Communities Fund program are now open.

The fund, which is open to local governments and community organisations for security enhancement projects, aims to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and bolster prevention measures.

The fund provides grants of up to $1 million for security infrastructure such as lighting, CCTV and bollards.

Mr Porter said the funding would help reduce the fear surrounding crime and contribute to greater safety in the community.

“Having worked as a state prosecutor for a number of years before entering politics, crime prevention and community safety is an issue that I feel very strongly about,” he said.

“Everyone has the right to feel safe and secure, and the Safer Communities Fund is one way we can help achieve that.”
