Preparing to remember service

The Advocate (Perth) - - LET'S EAT -

STUDENTS in the Pearce electorate will receive an educational kit in preparation for Remembrance Day this month to help honour service men and women.

Pearce MHR Christian Porter said the educational kit, developed by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, would help schools plan educational and commemorative activities for Remembrance Day.

“Our local community continues to honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who service in defence of our nation,” he said.

“As a community it is essential that each generation learns about that sacrifice and understands how Australia’s involvement in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations have shaped this country.”

He said the educational kit would include a Remembrance Day commemorative poster, the 2018 Department of Veterans Affairs Calendar and education information.

“This year’s Remembrance Day poster will honour the contribution of Australian peacekeepers over the last 70 years,” he said.
