Stu­dents shine in World­Skills

ELLENBROOK Sec­ondary Col­lege stu­dents took part in the World­Skills Aus­tralia Awards 2017 re­cently, walk­ing away with six medals.

Stu­dent Chloe Eb­sworth took out a gold for com­mer­cial cook­ing, while Nathan Bar­clay bagged gold in car­pen­try and Ben­jamin Craig took home bronze.

Ja­cobus (Duan) Du­ven­hage was awarded gold in the brick­lay­ing cat­e­gory, while Michael Tier­ney-Moore got sil­ver and Keanu Kaukasi took bronze.

Nathan, Ja­cobus and Chloe also qual­i­fied for the 2017 WA Train­ing Squad and will com­pete at a na­tional level next year.

Ellenbrook Sec­ondary Col­lege VET co-or­di­na­tor Deb­bie Har­ris said the school was proud of the stu­dents in­volved.

“It’s great to see young stu­dents pre­par­ing to have a go and work out­side of their com­fort zones,” she said. “In the process they are con­nect­ing their class­room prac­tices to real in­dus­try ex­pe­ri­ences.
