New arrivals welcome at zoo
PERTH Zoo is the place to be these summer school holidays, with plenty of new animals waiting to welcome you.
In the Primate Trail, the emperor tamarin family has given birth to a new youngster, which can be seen clinging to its dad’s back but getting more independent every day.
Mother Eemee and father Javier will be kept busy with four older offspring also climbing around the exhibit.
Visitors will also be able to spot two new binturong cubs that are just starting to explore beyond their nest box in the Asian Rainforest.
The young male Jakarta and female Enam are the first binturong to be born at Perth Zoo in its 119-year history.
The zoo’s Australian Bushwalk is bursting at the seams with native newbies, such as Lowana the koala joey.
The zoo’s tallest new arrival, Ellie the giraffe, can be seen stretching her long legs alongside herdmates Kitoto and Armani.
Perth Zoo is open 9am to 5pm every day of the year, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
