Gasfields plan for Moore River region

The Advocate (Perth) - - NEWS -

THERE will be a public meeting at Woodridge Community Hall tonight to discuss plans for gasfields in the Moore River region, which could require fracking.

Lock the Gate Alliance Mid West co-ordinator Simone van Hattem said the State Government had given gas exploration leases to companies from Guilderton to Gingin and Muchea, and up to Seabird and Ledge Point, down to the Swan Valley and up all through the Mid-West.

“It could include thousands of fracked gas wells, plus roads, pipelines, compressor stations and waste water treatment,” she said.

Local landholders and organisers Brad Charlton and Nicole Hutch said the meeting responded to concerns from local residents and business owners in the area.

The meeting is at 7pm on Wednesday, November 29, at Woodridge Community Hall, King Drive. Call Ms van Hattem on 0421 389 013.
