Driver hurt in chase

AN in­no­cent driver has leg and chest in­juries af­ter a head-on crash with a 4WD ear­lier in­volved in a chase with po­lice in Perth.

Of­fi­cers were pur­su­ing a Holden Com­modore and stolen Toy­ota Prado on Great North­ern High­way in Up­per Swan about 11.14pm on Wed­nes­day.

The Prado made a U-turn and sped off on the wrong side of the road and soon af­ter crashed into a Toy­ota Corolla.

The Corolla’s 20-year-old driver had to be cut from the car and taken to Royal Perth Hos­pi­tal with leg and chest in­juries.

The oc­cu­pants in the Prado fled.

A po­lice of­fi­cer, who in­jured an an­kle chas­ing a sus­pect when the Com­modore was stopped, was taken to Mid­land Hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

Pa­trols failed to find the peo­ple who fled. The Ma­jor Crash unit is in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
