Volunteer fire brigade fundraiser

The Advocate (Perth) - - FRONT PAGE - Lisa Thomas

THE West Swan Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade has started a GoFundme page to help raise money for CCTV cameras at the fire station.

Captain Rudi James said members had their vehicles broken into and personal belongings stolen while they were out fighting fires.

He said other stations had similar problems; some even had fire trucks and equipment stolen.

He said he hoped the CCTV cameras would act as a deterrent “and also as a detective to anything that happens at the station”.

“There is a lot of expensive equipment that we use to help us fight fires and we need to try and protect that.” The station has a fundraising goal of $3500. He said it was unfortunate volunteers were robbed but that it was a common occurrence at many stations.

“The system would help provide much-needed comfort for our members.” Visit gofundme.com/ west-swan-bfb-security-cameras to donate.
