Opposition to landfill building

The Advocate (Perth) - - NEWS -

A PETITION with more than 1200 signatures opposing a landfill proposal on Chittering Road in Bullsbrook has been tabled in State Parliament.

The City of Swan is set to reconsider the Chittering Road proposal after the State Administrative Tribunal referred it back to the council.

Swan Hills MLA Jessica Shaw said the tribunal decision was frustrating for the Bullsbrook community, which had opposed the development for more than 18 months.

“160 semi-trailer truck movements a day on Chittering Road is completely unacceptable and as I have stated previously, I fully support the City and the council’s stance to reject this proposal,” she said.

“I continue to be deeply concerned about the impacts this landfill will have on the Bullsbrook community and have been working collaboratively with the Member for Moore, Shane Love, to raise the profile of this issue.

“Road safety is paramount, with the local school and childcare centre on the proposed route.”

Bullsbrook Resident and Ratepayers Association president Anne Sibbel urged the council to reject the proposal.
