Naidoc awards now open

NOM­I­NA­TIONS are open for the Mid­land Naidoc Week Awards, with the com­mu­nity in­vited to ac­knowl­edge the con­tri­bu­tions of Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple within the City of Swan.

Nom­i­na­tions are open for sev­eral cat­e­gories in­clud­ing El­der of the Year, Com­mu­nity Per­son of the Year, Sports Per­son of the Year and Young Per­son of the Year.

A spe­cial award will be given as part of the 2018 Naidoc Week theme “be­cause of her, we can” which recog­nises ex­tra­or­di­nary women in the com­mu­nity who are pos­i­tive role mod­els and sup­port their fam­i­lies.

The nom­i­na­tion form is avail­able at swan.wa.gov.au and needs to be re­turned to swanal­liance@ ngala.com.au by June 22 close of busi­ness. The awards will be pre­sented at the Mid­land Naidoc Cel­e­bra­tion event on July 10. Pictures: David Baylis
