Community win over landfill

The Advocate (Perth) - - FRONT PAGE -

CITY of Swan councillors have refused an application for a landfill site in Bullsbrook after significant community concern.

Councillor David McDonnell put forward an alternative motion at Wednesday night’s council meeting that the council refuse the application because it would adversely affect the amenity of the adjoining residential area of Bullsbrook, would affect the function of Chittering Road and compromise safety for cyclists.

More than 1300 residents signed a petition to the council against the proposal in March 2017.

Another petition, this one with 1200 signatures, was presented to the Legislative Council in May 2018.

The matter will now be sent back to the State Administrative Tribunal on June 15.
