SWAN Christian College students will host a three-course banquet to raise funds for Light Up Ahead School in Zambia.

This year marks 10 years since the college started the school in Zambia to help vulnerable children receive education and daily nutritional meals.

College head of learning Ray Hockley said in 2008 four staff and 16 students visited Kantolomba in Zambia and saw the desperation of children who had not eaten for days.

“A decision was made to build a school there to give these children hope for the future,” he said.

“The Light Up Ahead School now caters for 230 children up to Grade 6.

“The majority of these kids are sponsored by families from SCC.”

The college’s jazz band and a group of African singers will perform at the banquet, which will be held on June 15.

All the food on the night will be prepared by a chef and the college’s hospitality students.

Tickets at $35 and can be purchased fromquet.
