Voice of The Advocate

The Advocate (Perth) - - NEWS -

THE most enjoyable part of editing was getting to know the community and exploring an area of Perth that is beautiful in so many ways.

Ellenbrook has become a bustling metropolis over the years and the Swan Valley just keeps getting better and better as a tourism destination.

But go a little further out and you come across the beautiful countryside that covers Gingin, Chittering and Bullsbrook.

The locals are incredibly proud of their home and this was no more evident than when we ran a series on the Shire of Chittering going head to head with a mining company to prevent a bauxite mine in its backyard.

Julian Wright’s extended coverage of the issue showed a community – and its local representatives on council – that refused to bow to the whims of big business in a time when the mining boom was still going strong.
