Staffing autonomy revoked
SINCE 2010 Independent Public Schools (IPS) have had full control over staffing but education department changes will require IPS to consider ‘redeployees’ before hiring any teachers or support staff.
Education Minister Sue Ellery says the changes are due to concerns that IPS has been snapping up the best teachers, leading to a two-tiered education system.
“The new policy change is that they are required to demonstrate they have considered a suitable match, if one is suggested to them, from the re-deployment pool,” she said.
