THE $35 million, 11.2 megawatt (MW) Williamsdale Solar Farm officially opened on 6 October.

ACT Climate Change and Sustainability minister Shane Rattenbury said the clean power generated by Williamsdale Solar Farm was another step towards achieving the Territory’s renewable electricity target.

“Williamsdale Solar Farm is now the fourth large-scale solar farm built in the ACT,” he said.

“As with the other projects, the Williamsdale Solar Farm also brings many other economic and research benefits to the region.”

The facility is the ACT’S fourth solar farm, which combined will produce up to 85,500MW each year; enough to power 11,000 homes.
