South Aus­tralia ranked top in­vest­ment re­gion

SOUTH Aus­tralia is one of the world’s lead­ing des­ti­na­tions for pe­tro­leum in­vest­ment, ac­cord­ing to the 2017 Fraser In­sti­tute Pe­tro­leum Sur­vey.

Of the 97 global en­ergy ju­ris­dic­tions sur­veyed, South Aus­tralia was ranked one of the top 10 at­trac­tive re­gions, while WA, NSW, North­ern Ter­ri­tory and Vic­to­ria ranked 37th, 85th, 86th, and 87th re­spec­tively.

“South Aus­tralia suc­cess­fully en­sures that gov­ern­ment is ac­ces­si­ble and will­ing to re­spond to is­sues in a prac­ti­cal man­ner.” the re­port stated.

APPEA chief ex­ec­u­tive Mal­colm Roberts said while the re­sult for the State was good news, bi­par­ti­san sup­port was un­der threat in the lead up to the March state elec­tion with Lib­er­als promis­ing to im­pose a mora­to­rium on gas de­vel­op­ment in the State’s south east.
