DID YOU KNOW?
Contrary to popular belief, the apple pie didn’t originate in America. In fact, the first written apple pie recipe dates back to 1381 in England, to the time of poet Geoffrey Chaucer. The ingredients listed included “good” apples, “good” spices, figs, raisins and pears in a “cofyn” - a pastry casing. Saffron was used for flavouring the filling, which didn’t include any sugar.
