Share the love
Dear Women’s Weekly Cookbook team,
I have been a long-time lover of The Australian
Women’s Weekly cookbooks. I grew up learning to bake from my mother’s Big Book of Beautiful
Biscuits, as well as Cakes and Slices. As I grew up and developed my own cookbook library, I have discovered new favourites and reminisced over old memories in my copies of Retro Baking, Baking: The Complete
Collection and Love to Bake.
I do love to bake. However, as the “baker” in my group of friends and family, no-one ever bakes for me. So you can imagine my surprise when, after a particularly massive week of work, my partner
(who had never baked anything in his entire life) surprised me and spent his day off baking my all-time favourite treat, a lumberjack cake (page 72, Sweet Old-fashioned Favourites). I arrived home to a house smelling like childhood memories.
I wanted to share this story with you so that you know that your delicious recipes have enriched our lives. I want to acknowledge the beauty of The Australian Women’s
Weekly recipes, as they are reliable and approachable. Even home cooks with no experience can follow along.
Carers are sharers, so let’s join hands and embrace our foodie friends with letters, recipes and more!
