Delta Goodrem Nobody can escape having their world rocked by loss, and a brush with mortality can’t help but change you.

For Delta, the shock took a different form. The performer was on the cusp of global glory in 2003 when cancer forced her to put her plans on pause.

“I just wanted my mum,” Delta said in 2003. “As long as I could smell her hair and know she was near, then I felt protected. She was what I needed most.” These days the singer is stronger and wiser. “I’ve seen different storms – I just put my umbrella up,” she says.

“To keep a warm, compassionate heart is what I feel is important.”
