Mrs Brown won her seven ma­jor awards, in­clud­ing a Golden Globe and BAFTA, and nom­i­na­tions for six oth­ers.

SHAKE­SPEARE IN LOVE

Queen El­iz­a­beth I ap­peared only three times in 1998’s Shake­speare In Love

(above, with Colin Firth as Lord Wes­sex), but that did not stop Judi from win­ning the Os­car for Best Ac­tress in a Sup­port­ing Role at the 1999 Academy Awards.

JAMES BOND

Judi was the first (and only) woman to play M in the James Bond film se­ries (above, with Daniel Craig). She starred in seven James Bond films, in­clud­ing

Gold­en­Eye (1995), Die An­other Day

(2002), Casino Royale (2006), Quan­tum Of So­lace (2008) and Sky­fall (2012).

NOTES ON A SCAN­DAL

Her ren­di­tion in the star­ring role of Bar­bara Covett in the 2006 thriller, along­side Cate Blanchett, was met with nom­i­na­tions for the Academy, Golden Globes and BAFTAs.
